PROJECT SUMMARY:

Creating character designs
depicting childhood traumas I've experienced.
A more in depth explanation:
Concept art and creating weird characters has always been the most fascinating part of art for me, but I've never connected my art to my inner psyche or emotions. What I've drawn have always been more physical, and the characters I'd make would be made just to look cool, or to fill out an imaginary world I've made in my head.
I wanted to try something new for once, and approach art in a more personal manner, while still doing something I really enjoy doing.
I've not had the best childhood, and there was a lot of parental abuse, both verbal and physical that stayed with me through years and its something I still cycle through therapists over.
I wanted to reflect some of these experiences I've went through by creating creature designs that represent some parts about them, maybe subtle, maybe not so subtle.
The material for this project I'm eventually planning to use is ink, however, these current illustrations are digitally made, as its a lot easier to plan and sketch on a digital medium without wasting paper or ink

individual explanations for details that could be obscured by the small image sizes or the sketchiness
I've taken inspiration from games like OMORI, Brutal Orchestra and OFF which also do something similar by depicting unresolved inner conflicts as unsettling shapes or creatures

"The Batter", main character of OFF, perceived by himself and then by those around him
